Tare

Tare weight is the weight of packaging, packaging material or additional components that are part of the overall object or goods. It expresses the weight of all impurities that are not part of the object or goods themselves.

Tare weight is usually used in the context of transport and trade, where it is necessary to include the weight of packaging materials and other components in the total weight of the object. This information is important in determining shipping costs, security restrictions, and logistics planning.

The tare weight is obtained by subtracting the net weight from the gross weight: Tare weight = Gross weight - Net weight

Tare weight can include various components such as packaging materials, packaging, tapes, labels, closures, protective layers and more. In the case of transporting goods, it is important to know the tare weight in order to be able to correctly evaluate the total weight of the transported goods and to ensure safe handling and transport.
