A physical quantity is a quantity or characteristic that can be measurably expressed by a numerical value and a unit. Physical quantities describe various aspects and properties of phenomena, objects or systems in physics and natural sciences.

Each physical quantity consists of two main parts:

Numerical value: Expresses the specific size or amount of a given phenomenon. This value is obtained by measurement or calculation.

Unit: Determines in which physical units the numerical value is expressed. The unit is used to quantify size and compare different values.

Examples of physical quantities include length, mass, time, temperature, velocity, force, electric charge, energy, pressure, and many others. Physical quantities are of fundamental importance in various fields of science, engineering, technology and natural sciences, as they enable quantitative description and analysis of various phenomena and processes in nature and in artificial systems.
